Went to a cool gun show yesterday...

I took my friend and his two buddies to this gun show near Cleveland, OH yesterday...

Welcome to the Ohio Gun Collectors Association Online

Almost 1000 tables and it was the 1st show in that venue in 12 years. Story goes that the mayor of Cleveland said "no gun shows allowed" and the NRA sued him and won, so the show came back after a 12 year hiatus.

My friend is legally blind , so he needs a driver and some assistance getting around. His two buddies are both nice guys and we had an enjoyable 150 mile drive each way in my MazdaSpeed3.

I was looking for parts for my 1903 Colt Hammerless and got a few contacts, picked up some great pistol rugs and my buddies bought some cool stuff. Camera were strongly discouraged, so I didn't get any pictures...

Went to a small show yesterday... bunch of tacticool stuff, bunch of junk, bunch of "only a true collector is interested in this" stuff...

Did manage to sell my Llama mini 1911 in 380 to afford a 22 conversion kit for my FAL, didn't manage to sell the Savage 220a 20ga single shot my daughter doesn't like (she can't shoot skeet wtih it, and she doesn't like trap).

azasadny,

Thanks for sharing. I'm happy to hear the NRA won that round.

Just out of curiosity, at a show like this, what does a WW2/Korea vintage 1911A1 go for these days in fair/good condition?

I see what some dealers are charging, but I haven't been to a big show since the economy went downhill.

Thanks.

(btw, what is Wyandotte like these days? I was born there about a million years ago.)

$200 to $40k depending on who made it and it's shape.

The M1911A1's that I saw were Colt, Ithaca and Remington Rand's. They went from $1500 to $7500, most were $2000, depending on condition, originality and rarity. A Singer sold at auction for $167k!

Wyandotte is still the same, but with MI being "ground zero" in this recession/depression, it's taken a savage beating. Most of our small businesses are gone. Home are worth less than 50% of what they were worth in 2006 and people are hunkered down, trying to survive. I can see 4 foreclosed properties from my backyard... Very depressing. IWe would leave if we could, but we're stuck with our house...
