Not to hijack, but I ran across a food combo that I hadn't heard of until recently: Salmon croquets with maple syrup. Actually was pretty good.

Actually................this is a deep south food thing where after church the family would sit down to basically would be described as "brunch" with fried chicken and waffles OR possibly pancakes

MarkRobinson 10-19-2011 06:01 AM

there's one that opened up 9 months ago across the street from our office in Austin: the place is always empty. Went from a semi-successful sandwhich shop to a vacant Chicken & Waffles: I too had never heard of it, lived in Austin all 42 years of life.

Sounds wierd to me.

Doesn't sound like the healthiest thing on the menu.

I'll have the grilled salmon, thanks.

Yep, just some harmless ribbing. Eating some sort of bland cinnamon flavored sloppy joe mix is bad enough, calling it chili is sacrilege, making fun of weird food elsewhere is comedy. :D

God I want a good CFS. Out here they're more like schnitzel, which is fine in it's own right but not the same thing.

I miss Goodson's. :(

And just to be fair and expose my own poor eating habits for ridicule, a few nights ago I had some schweinshaxe with spaetzle, red cabbage and a couple of Paulaner Salvators, followed up with some apfelstrudel with whipped cream and a cuppa joe. Good times.

Damn, now I need to make some chili. Low this morning was 52°. That's close enough.

There's a local Cajun place downtown that puts chili on top of white rice. I love it.

That looks fantastic.

Poor eating habits rule!! Last night we went to our favorite restaurant, and they had some great specials. I had Jaegerschnitzel mit spaetzle und rotkohl. Outstanding.

Sorry no pic, but it was a work of art.:D

I guess that's why some parts of the South look like a cow yard, but with people . . . I mean, how could you eat at Roscoe's more than "very occasionally" and not become a heifer?
