FYI - Do you like Thomas Sowell?

He's on now...to be repeated on Cavuto on Fox Business Network at 9 pm PT tonight. A full half hour interview.

BeyGon 10-20-2011 02:17 PM

I always like him, the democrats don't so much but they are racists.

legion 10-20-2011 02:19 PM

I read his book "Land of Idols" in college. One of the finest minds of our time.

944Larry 10-20-2011 05:20 PM

I like him, he has his act together.

Rick Lee 10-20-2011 05:25 PM

He's the best. How does he handle going to work at Beserkeley every day? I dated a black woman for about a year 11 yrs. ago. I forwarded her one of his columns once and she replied "that man obviously has no idea what it's like to be black in this country."

does he live in beserkley? I thought he lives on the peninsula. i do know that since 1980 he has been a Senior Fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

Rick Lee 10-21-2011 10:08 AM

Oh, I thought he was at Beserkeley. Palo Alto is probably better for his nerves.

Perhaps.
When I lived in Menlo Park, my neighbor called it "Shallow Alto." But that's another topic.

maybe you are thinking of John Yoo - who tried to justify the legality of torture for GW Bush

He is great, I met him when I was in college.

His book:

The Vision of the Anointed: Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy

really describes why some people honestly think they are better suited to make decisions and public policy about other people's lives

The Einstein Syndrome: Bright Children Who Talk Late

Also a great look at a subject he's not an expert on (although he has a child if I recall) that brings sanity to a field of parental hysteria over potential autism

Migrations And Cultures: A World View by Thomas Sowell Paperback $20.11
Conquests And Cultures: An International History by Thomas Sowell Paperback $19.54
Race And Culture: A World View by Thomas Sowell Paperback $13.57

All terrific books about why people are different, move, fight but all really have similar goals

Some of the best Rush Limbaugh shows is when Walter Williams guest hosts and has 30-40 minutes with Dr. Sowell. Both are two of the best minds in their fields, and Williams is quite funny.

Although I like Limbaugh, I look forward to Williams guest hosting when he is out.

Rick Lee 10-21-2011 06:26 PM

Walter Williams is the best. I always wanted to run into him around NoVA, where he teaches, but never did.

After the creation of the relief fund for the BP oil spill Sowell compared Obama to Hitler. Palin and Gohmert worship him for that.

Hell, based on just that alone, how can right wing nuts not love him?

Crowbob 10-24-2011 09:01 AM

Not simply a good question, yours is a great question DARISC, freedom of speech notwithstanding.

BeyGon 10-24-2011 09:04 AM

a little ot but then, what did obama do good after the BP oil spill, he should be compared to a lot of losers.

Stanford actually has plenty of proto-fascists on its rolls, you'd like it there. My brother and SIL were in the PhD program in International Relations/Poly Sci there in the '80s.
