Enjoying this thread. A few years back, my brother picked up a couple of 70's Ford Country Squire wagons NICE originals - barn finds - big cubes as in c.i. 429 and 460 and as big rectangles going down the super highway. I think they were only a couple hund. each!
Anyhow, I'd like this Packard posted earlier. Scott http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1320296046.jpg |

The 1958 Dodge wagon pulled our little Shasta trailer all over the West during a six-week trip we took in 1959. I sat the whole way in the rear facing seat looking at the trailer.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1320786808.jpg My Dad had a 1962 Buick Invicta station wagon that was bright red. The car had a 340HP 390ci engine and Buick's Dynaflow transmission. This power to weight ration put the car into NHRA Class D Stock Automatic. Unbeknownst to my father, I raced his red wagon at Sunset Drag Strip in Sharon, PA in about five races, winning my class in two of them. We'd unbolt the exhaust and run straight pipes. We'd paint the car with water based paints and rinse it off on the way home. With the Dynaflow transmission, it was put the thing in low, torque it up off the line and shift into drive when it felt right. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1320787083.jpg |
