What are you using for music files?

I have a PC and use iTunes and Roxio Creator 2009 for managing my music files....ripping MP3's, downloading music, and burning CDs, etc . I like making compilation CD's for myself and friends.

I'm not necessarily in love with these programs. One issue for me is sometimes the file names do not stay with the file when they are "transported".

Anyone using something they really like?

I also have a wide assortment of MP3 players and use them on the job every day so music is a huge part of my life I guess you could say.

Thanks for your input and suggestions! SmileWavy

For most PC stuff:

Playing: Foobar.
Ripping: EAC.

Foobar is ASIO/WASAPI capable, and had a few cool DSP plug-ins/tools.

Ripping: Windows Media Player
Playing: Winamp
Editing: Audacity
Burn CD: Roxio Creator 10

Grab all the MP3 songs from the newsgroups such as alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.blues or alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.cajun-zydaco or alt.binaries. sounds.mp3.bootlegs while using a program such as Usenet Explorer and setting up a long "save" list and run it over night. You can make sub directories per artist name or album name and get approximately 100 songs on a regular CD-ROM. Burn as a "data" CD-ROM with Infa Recorder (free and very fast) and it'll play in any MP3 player.

The quality is not as great as an original recording but then again most cars are NOT as quiet as your home.
