RPKESQ, in our country most tactical training is reserved for military or police.

I suppose a citizen could find classes.... but doubt any would include defending yourself while being fired on.

In my Country (USA) there are several training centers that you could go to to learn defensive shooting skills. Some, like Gunsite, are first rate.

Seek and ye shall find.

Assume and you will never find the answers.

Most cops use speer gold dot.

Sorry, I guess the French flag and "Location: France" threw me...

And at gunsite, they will shoot at you?

Over penetration is a seldom seen, but much discussed issue. I do not worry about it as I believe in shot placement to solve the problem.

You can purchase handgun rounds that will not over penetrate also.

Glaser safety slugs.

Only if you are so stupid to think that you cannot learn the proper tactics and skills required to defend yourself in a personal combat situation without actually being shot at.

Do you think that the normal training in the military has ordinary infantry soldiers being shot at?

Are you really this ignorant about self-defense skills involving firearms?

I too think a shotgun within the confines of a home is a poor choice. Cumbersome, big, and easy to get taken away by the bad guy. Although any gun is better than no gun, my personal choice is my 1911 with Speer gold dot. I have been trained in personal defense so yes it is available. The NRA website should have course and instructors in you area. At one time I did have an Ithaca M37 12ga. that was my home gun and I had the first round loaded with rubber buckshot. It's nasty stuff, hurts like hell, and very effective at close range. It will knock a perp down. Also save you some time in court for killing somebody. the remainder of the loads were 00 buck if you were stupid enough to get up. Then I measured the halls and doorways in my house they were barely wide enough to get a legal size shotgun (30" LOA) through. It was then I switched to my 1911.

A dog, a very mean dog. I have a S&W 4006 loaded with Winchester silver tips in the night stand. But there ain't a burglar on earth that is getting past Maxx and he's not even mean.

There is a compromise available..........

the Taurus Judge in .410/45 Colt chambering. With this revolver, you can load up one of several .410 ga. shot shells including some new rounds that are designed specifically for that revolver. Not a 12 gauge, but it gives the shooter more than one chance per trigger pull to hit the perp and the fast stuff coming out the barrel should not over penetrate walls and such.

And, just for the record, about 40 years ago I was a participant in a little place known as Vietnam. So, yeah I know what it is like to get shot at.

Racerbvd 10-21-2011 05:56 PM

I use to have one of these:D

My primary home D gun is my Sig .40 226.

I also have a Ruger Blackhawk .357 on hand.

And if the zombies keep coming, I'll grab the .38.

Beyond that we get into 7.62x39 land.......:D

HHI944 10-21-2011 07:44 PM

Old School, the Winnie 94 loaded with Hornady leverevolution.
The P9S loaded with a 'homebrew'
Those are my two go to's...

Rick Lee 10-21-2011 08:25 PM

I also have a pistol grip Mossberg 12 ga. with 00 buck for the bedside gun, a SIG P220 with night sights and Speer Gold Dots in the night stand and a Surefire on top of the night stand. I have trained with the flashlight and SIG together and get to the range a few times per month. I have shot cinder blocks with a .44 mag. before and it turned them into dust. But it was outdoors and I don't know what became of the bullets. I would worry about overpenetration, but not as much as killing the intruder. I saw a guy a open carrying an FN 5.7 in the grocery store a while back and that would really worry me about overpenetration.

vash 10-21-2011 08:32 PM

Im not confident to know how a gunfight would go down. I Shoot alot and know my equipment. I can't choreograph anything. France is better than me.

jyl 10-21-2011 08:41 PM

Glock 19, 9mm, loaded w/ extra magazine, is by my bed.

Also a snubby .38 that I carry. I guess it could be for home defense, hard to see why I wouldn't go for the G19.

Also a compact .45 1911.

There's a Mossberg 500 with assorted birdshot and buckshot. That's more stashed away for major civil unrest - its not by the bed.

I do NOT use spear gold dots. They expand too fast and dont get enough penetration. I WANT AN EXIT WOUND.........

If you want gruesome proof email me or PM me and I will send you evidence that will convince you to think the same way I do.......
autopsy photos................................. gold dots are designed to stop not kill..40 cal gold dots would not stop the individual. took sharp shooters with a 223 to get the job done.
when my life is at stake...........I play for keeps

targa911S 10-22-2011 06:06 AM

Really? Phoenix PD use Gold Dots (last I checked, might have changed) and they kill bad guys all the time. Granted, it doesn't get real cold here, so they're not shooting through a lot of layers. But take a look at the this video.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Wuz_RHkS0aU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I like to carry whatever the police carry......for legal reasons.

gamin 10-22-2011 12:56 PM

For home defense Taurus Judge Win. PDX1 .410. Should keep the hallway clear.

Jim Bremner 10-22-2011 02:49 PM

If the Judge was so bad ass you would see cops using it.

a .410 shotgun shell is a kids round. NOT a hall clearer.
