Anyone have experience with GutterStuff ?

In my townhouse community, we are looking at possibly using it. Due to leaves and other debris collecting in the gutters, we need to have them cleaned at least twice a year. This looks like it may have some promise. I was just wondering what the opinion is of the PPOT braintrust.

Won't they still need to be cleaned twice a year?

A building inspector I know says this stuff will just keep gunk against the roofing and plywood substrate, causing rot.

I'd rather clean the gutters, a small pain, than have to tear off the roofing to replace the rotted sheeting.

That's the point. According to the promises on their site, it will cut that down drastically. I reached out to the manufacturer to get some details. Depending on which version you buy, they are guaranteed to not clog and let water run through for 3, 5, 15 years. They also have a lifetime version.

Wouldn't the screens that pop in do the same thing? There seem to be many, many variations. I like the idea of a cover over an open cell foam. I also just did a google image search for "gutter guard" and saw another option that I can't imagine would work as well, but may. It is essentially a large pipe cleaner that filles the gutters. I suppose the real benefit would be that pulling it out would probably pull most of the crud with it.

I put them in our house about a month ago and so far - so good. They do seem to keep the leaves out of the gutters but leaves do rest on top and I assume that smaller leaves and stems will stick in the spaces between the foam. For the low cost I figured I'd try them out.

is there anything wrong with the normal holed panels ones? like the white one in masraum's post

I would not use the gutterstuff. We regularly work with a residential builder which does alot of gutter/roofing installation work and he advises against the product, even though he is a supplier/installer, and can make easy money steering clients towards installing the stuff. He claims that they don't block everything and that the gutters will still need to be physically cleaned--esp. in a high leaf area. And he claims they don't do a thing against pine needles.

He doesn't do gutter cleaning as a part of his business, so he isn't just trying to drum-up cleaning sales--he just thinks the product is not a substitute for regular cleaning.

I installed black anodized aluminum mesh screens on the gutters 10 years ago. I check them every few years and they have been fine, ended the gutter cleaning chore.

We get serious leaf fall here in Ct so they are tested yearly.

They were inexpensive. I think I got them from egutter.

they say that snow melts first at the gutter area?
my experience is that the snow at the top of the roof melts first and the gutter area is the last to melt. ice dams form at the bottom of the roof not the tops. also all those little holes in the foam look like a quicker place for ice to build up. and what about all the small stones from the roofing? those will get in the foam and clog it up too.
