I could always tell where I was by looking at the map and keeping track of topographic features along the way. I wonder if that could be done with a GPS where there are no roads in the area for 10 or 20 miles around.

I use a Garmin Etrex.....works good.

As far as a gps in a car....well duh, why not?

Mapquest usually works for me.

One better. I drove down today on 75 south in Fl. and stopped at a DQ. When I walked in, it was like I was in 1975. It was actually a Stucky's. Talk about old. The enitre place was filled with 1970's stuff, from t-shirts to Elvis photo's to state magnets. It was run by a Indian. fellow who was there wheather he liked it or not. There are still places like this all over I assume, but to actually see it was neat.
