ebay question

I sold an item on ebay in September. I listed the auction as no returns or exchanges.

Got an email yesterday from the buyer. The buyer says the item (which was new in box and working) now doesn't work.

I purposefully listed the item as no returns, and the price was cheap accordingly. It is an older piece of equipment (i.e. out of warranty) and I didn't want to deal with any issues going forward.

I believe I am well within my rights to reject the return request. Has anyone else been in this situation? How was it handled?

FYI - the item is covered by ebay's buyer protection plan. What does that mean to the buyer in this case?

Just tell him he's sol, it was working and he broke it.... No returns means no returns.

Base on my previous experience, it doesn't matter what you listed in the desc, if he wants to return it, he can. And he can get the money back.

BTW, does the item work? Did you know the item doesn't work? Did you describe it as does not work?

It's been over a month. There must be a time limit on how long he can keep the item before he returns it.
"Empty your paypal account and all accounts linked to it" is good advise.
I opened a savings account & put a few dollars in and it's the only account linked to Paypal. I keep my paypal account empty and this bank account nearly empty so the bad guys can't do too much damage.

Sounds like the guy maybe had the same piece of equipment and it broke so he buys yours and will return his.

I had a guy try that with me once.

Didn't work.

I write down/photograph serial numbers or discreetly mark the item, just in case.
