				Visiting near Atlanta-Anything to do-see?

I'll be down near Atlanta Wednesday through Friday night, actually Cartersville Ga. Any good things to see or do? Best place for ribs, etc. Car stuff? Golf courses? Thanks for any ideas.

				BBQ, etc............

There is a great BBQ place on the Canton Hwy (Hwy 5) just north of where it crosses I75 called the Rib Ranch. They have great beef ribs that melt in your mouth. In Acworth, Ga. which is not too far, there is a museum that houses the locomotive "The General" that was stolen by Andrews Raiders during the Civil War and chased by another locomotive "The Texas" from just north of Marietta almost to Chattanooga. Great story, some of the raiders received the first Congressional Medal of Honor awards. The Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park is also nearby. In Marietta, you could go by and see George Hussey at *********** (specializes in 914s) and just around the corner from there is a neat gunshop called "Deercreek" that carries lots of old/antique firearms. If you choose to drive down US 41 from Cartersville to Marietta, there are lots of used car lots including several that specialize in things like Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, etc. Just north of Marietta on Barrett Parkway (just off US41) there is a pretty decent mall. Have a great visit!

Yes, but there's nothing to see there. They do keep a car of some type out front to look at, but that's it.

Cartersville is our transfer location. We will have a car, so can go places. 1 1/2 hour north, huh, of well. Boonies, farmland, geeeeeeze, I get that at home. Stone mountain, BBQ, oh well, I'll bring some good books, good booze, and a good laptop.

If you're stuck in Cartersville, go to the Appalachian Grill. Good food and nice atmosphere. As for Atlanta - lots of stuff to do. We just spent the weekend in Midtown a couple of weeks ago. There's really too much to do. We walked to breakfast one morning (The Flying Biscuit - great place) and saw a homeless guy wearing a CVS bag on his head. Fun times.

			Hey Strup

I live in White about ten minutes from Cartersville. It's a lot closer to Atl than Snake says. Straight shot down I75. Send me an Email at bbausser@gmail.com and I'll give you my phone number and perhaps we can get together. Were having a Early S / RGruppe lunch tomorrow in Atlanta and your welcome. Any other Pelican's are welcome also, just send me an email or check the Georgia regional forum (early911SRegistry.org) for details. I'm leaving around 10, hope to be back by 2. Will take my SWB 3.6 rocket if the weather is good, otherwise will roll in the Cayenne. Happy to give you a ride. Bill

and that depends on the time of day.. But anyway, whats up with the RGruppe stuff?? I hear people mentioning it from time to time and many of the cars in the shop have RGruppe decals on them, but always thought it was one of those California things and didnt know it was active around these parts.. |

Come to lunch tomorrow Snake. We have about 9 Rgruppers members in and around Atlanta.............and when was the last time you drove 50 miles on the Interstate in less than 40 minutes, rush hour excluded?
