Shipping 930 w/out Motor
My 930 has been residing in Chicago since I moved out to the San Francisco bay area. Its now time to bring it out and looking for some suggestions for shipping/transportation. The issue is that there is no motor in the car as I had that shipped out earlier this year so I could begin a full rebuild. Maybe that's an issue, maybe not. Wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience with a good carrier and any thoughts on likely cost.
Thanks,

I ship a non runner. They charged me a bit more for a pushing fee.

Got out to the west coast about 2.5 years ago. Originally was in the city and didn't have storage. Have since moved to the burbs and am nearing the completion of my engine rebuild and itching to get the car back together.

I've used these guys 4 times now, ask for Kenny the owner, tell him I sent you, I have been very happy with them.

Don't use Dependable Auto Shippers, DAS, they are a rip off.

We've shipped a couple of non-runners.
Important points: 1. Steering is operational, car rolls easy (give a weight - it helps as they're light). 2. Service and PARKING brake work. Often two guys will work together and one can sit in the car, the other can winch/push. Doors closed, steps on the brake to stop the car. If by themselves, they can grab the parking brake. Make sure you secure any wiring and hoses so they can't drag/catch on stuff. Seal up the fuel system (e.g. cap/duct tape over fuel line openings in engine bay). Obviously to avoid leaks, but also to avoid fumes. angela

![]() Best to make certain the fuel tank is empty or the lines are capped securely. The loading angles are enough to allow any fuel to end up where its not wanted. Len ![]() |

What Angela mentions is important. Air the tires up to 45 psi or so and that helps the car roll when pushed. You can reduce the pressure once it gets back in your hands, but "easy to push" is a big thing for the loaders.

MN (or Chicago) to CA is about $1000 for a running car. It will be more to ship a non-running car.
