I usually have a browser window open with a tab for pelican and 2-3 other sites. I do some work for 15-20 minutes, take a minute or two to read a post or two, then do some more work. This is pretty much how my day goes for 9-10 hours a day. I seldom go out for lunch (just eat something at my desk while I continue to work) and don't generally take "breaks" per se... So I figure it evens out. As long as my stuff gets done (and it does) my boss doesn't really care what I do or even whether I'm in the office at all. I read/post a lot in the mornings and evenings especially if I'm riding the trains with nothing better to do. Days when busy? Not much activity. Average days? Probably an hour/hour-and-a-half a day reading and posting on this and other sites. It keeps me sane and breaks up the day. Some people use coffee breaks, some people use water cooler chit-chat or structured lunchtime trips/events. I don't - I just prefer a measured pace with occasional mental purges that sites like his one afford.

Yeah, that about sums it up. I think having a tab open on the site probably makes it look like I'm ALWAYS on the site. Especially if you consider that I have a PC at home (the one I'm on now) that has a tab open to PP 24x7.
