Still, pretty darn cool. The opportunity to build a '65 mustang with a perfect body from scratch. The rest of the parts are probably not that hard to come by

What do they do about VINs? Just curious how they would be titled.

The '65 vert is cool, but a fastback would be on my short list. As would a rust free early bronco.

Wish Porsche would do that... They should start with a 924.

The nice thing about it is that you'd get this body, that if it's not already galvanized, could at least be very thoroughly rust-proofed. THen you could outfit it with modern brakes, suspension and running gear but keep everything but the mechanicals looking as original and vintage as you want.

The body for 15k, I still think it would be close to 75k as a finished product. Paint, interior, etc, it's going to cost some bucks. Maybe 100k. I would rather have a real 911. I guess if you bought a clean donner Mustang for all the parts it would help, but it's going to cost some bucks. Last edited by BeyGon; 10-28-2011 at 01:59 PM..

I saw a classic Mustang convertible for the first time recently here in Houston. That car is meant to be a fastback or hardtop, convertible just looks meh...

-This is just the start folks. Ford is the first of the auto companies to catch on that their older products might be re-saleable. You can bet that chever-lay is right behind, and Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge is next. Porsche and especially VOLKSWAGEN will be preparing bodies next! -I want a first generation VW Scirocco. One built from American steel, instead of the crap Russian steel that the original cars were made from! The only problem is registration. In order to be registered, the car needs a VIN, and that VIN will probably be modern. Which will dictate modern safety codes, including about 6 airbags- Shelby back in the 1960's produced about 100 frames that were never built; He resurrected these frames about 10 years ago, and produced 1960's cars in 2001 that were brand new. Hmm! The possibilities are endless- N!

u can build and register a replica of a 1960's car that conforrms to 1960's emissions and safety standards. just cause it'd built in 2011 doesn't mean it has to be 3 point seat belts, catalytic converter, ABS, 10 zone airbags.

Pretty cool if you can title & register it as a '65. That would really screw up the vintage mustang market, tho.
