The video is cool, but dated, as it mentions parts coming from Vought and Global Areonatica (sp?) in Charleston, SC. Boeing has owned both for a couple of years, to bring parts and quality up to speed.

I've just finished 10 weeks of training and have 16 more to start working in the 20building, where the mid-body is built, here in Charleston. I was hoping for the 30 building where final assembly is but it's a job that I'm glad to have, having been out of work for a while. The 30 building is 7 acres in size, with solar panels on top, helping to power the plant. The plane looks small from 100' up, but is big when walking around it. Compared to a 747, I'm sure it looks small.

It's been exciting to see the first plane from Charleston being built up the past 10 weeks. Still a long way to go, but it will be cool to see it take off.

A friend and Boeing tech rode in one during testing. No seats except for the few techs riding. Nowhere near full fuel tanks. My friend says it'll pin your ears back.

I refuse to fly this airplane.

-First of all, it is being built in a SCAB factory. SCABS are assembling this pile of plastic crap in South Carolina, a state that should probably be invaded and forcibly nationalized.

Once we have this crap state under control, then perhaps we can go to work on the BOEING company, and how poorly it treats its workers!

This factory needs to be UNIONIZED. Boeing in Washington state is unionized, and the workers have a real living wage. Not so in South Carolina! Down in that disgusting state, qualified aircraft mechanics [who have two years of college on top of specific aircraft maintenance training and an FAA checkride passed...] don't have the ability to join a union and ask for better wages. As such, they work for poverty wages.

In Seattle, many workers drive Porsches. How many do you think drive Porsches in Charleston? Try none...they work for beginning wages!

-This is BULLSCHEIZ!

This is why I refuse to fly this airplane. As long as Boeing keeps a non-union assembly line open in South Carolina, I will NOT fly this airplane.

N!

I don't think they are going to make a freight version so you don't have to worry about it

So unions are good because you get to drive a porsche. What sort of porsche does the union local require. Only model year 2010 and up.

I have a friend in seattle who is applying with Boeing. He drives a sh##y little sc. Bad paint, breaks down all the time and a targa no less.

I told him if wants to work on the dreamliner he best get down to the South Carolina plant where the local plant allows less expensive models............

From someone there now, get over yourself. And FWIW there are more than a few p-cars in the lot here. I struck up a conversation with a flight line guy that parked next to me in a 993 just 2 days ago. Locals seem to prefer trucks, though. Different culture.

Not sure what shift I start work on week after next, but I'll look you up.

If you see a red 1991 BMW 318is in the lot, that's me.

Was that 993 blue? I've seen him several times pulling out of the lot.
