Fright
I put my candy bowl on my dimly lit landing, get dressed in black, and put a chair next to the bowl, and light a candle. If the kids are small, they get a pass. If they are over about 8 or so,I dont move a muscle untill they have their hand in the Bowl then I either pickup my head or move my arm, while they are looking into the bowl.
Hilarity ensues

I have one of those bowls with a rubber hand that comes down on top if you reach in for anything...ha ha...it has a voice that sounds like George Carlin and says "Trick or Treat".

I usually get the mini c-bars and small bags of M&M's...good old fashioned tooth decay material! ;)

I used to get a few kids but the past 2 years none. I used to put up decorations in the lawn and my front door area but not this year - I think it will be another no show year....too bad. Just not as cool as it was when I was growing up...too many bad guys out there I guess.

I used to sit outside my house in Western Mass, in black with a full size scythe.

One halloween, once of the kids walks up, very confidently and yells: "That's not real!"

He then flicked the blade with a fingernail and the blade rang...

He ran away screaming "It's Real! It's Real!"

Then his father came over with a Butthead mask and asked for a beer. SmileWavy

"Uhhhhhh. You got any, like, beer and stuff?"

Our driveway is about 250 feet long, so nobody ever comes up. I would probably eat all of the candy anyway...

The kids brought back their take and got some great candy! Full size candy bars, microwave popcorn, tons of tootsie pops. Daddy gonna haf sum serious sugar tonight!!!

Tons of good candy left our home tonight. Daughter came back with a ton of replacements. Son is too old for T-or-T so he killed tons of virtual zombies. I did my usual baked pumpkin seeds, carved pumpkins, and pumpkin pie. Love it.

We were prepared for a lot of trick-or-treaters but hardly any showed up. The weather was nice, so I don't know what happened, but we hardly had any kids show up at all. The neighborhood was very quiet...

Same here, 16 years no kids except for a couple of our kids friends just before they head out for the night.

Our Lab got into a big bag of Skittles. That dog will be shyt'n a rainbow soon...

our newfoundlands got into a one pound bag of swedish gummy fish. puke and diarrhea was the end result. big dogs = copious amounts.

we get whatever they have at costco, in the huge sizes, that looks good. then my wife usually sends me to get more, because she doesn't think we have enough. last night she was correct, but i had purchased three bags of mini butterfingers and reeses. a bag of smarties appeared at the end of the evening and helped to finish off the trick or treaters. we had an excellent turnout.

Our daughter got a lot of potato chips, pretzels and stuff like that...

Only 1 bag was opened. I did put in some bags of "alternative" candy near the end, but they were not used.

The past years I would get around 300 kids. This year not so much. Around 8:30 I was handing out candy by the fist full just to get rid of it.

A930Rocket 11-01-2011 06:27 PM

Rocks.

Colored rocks if I like the kid.

Same here. I counted only 17 kids. We have candy for 300 so we're good there.
