Wtb 68-70 amx OK guys I was not sure where to post this on Pelican (and besides heading to the obvious AMC forums) but thought I would see if you guys had any leads. My father, the work-a-holic is "planning" on retiring next year and I would really love to find him 68-70 AMX as a retirement gift. In his late teens early 20s he worked for AMC here in Milwaukee and has always told me how much he loved these cars. I will try to keep the story short, but I have to say I could not have asked for better parents as they have had to endure alot of hardships, sacrifices, and long hours in order to provide a good home for me and my siblings. I know that he does not have the extra funds to purchase one himself (I have a much younger sis in college), so I thought this would be one way that I could show my never ending thanks for the things he has done. I am not looking for a show car as this would also be something for him to tinker on and drive around with all of the newly acquired fee time. Let me know if you have any leads. As aways, thank you all for your help. J. |

congrats to dad!! you serious about the AMX? he wants one? i always thought AMC had two separate design departments. one to design the front of the car, one to design the back. the two departments were not allowed to talk to each other. you sound like a great son. i'll keep my eye out. there were tons of them in el paso. |

Thanks for the link. There are plenty of those cars floating around, but was hoping to find a solid one for about 1/3 to 1/2 that amount. |

Good luck, dig the AMX |

Wow, brings back memories of grey/silver ones (with one huge blue bubblegum beacon on top) operated by the Alabama State Troopers. |

Do it, a 69 with Go Package was to be my second car. Night before I was supposed to do the deal with PO we got a freak snow storm so had to delay another day. PO left the car on the street and a snowplow took out the whole drivers side. What a shame. |

What a great gesture. Please post a follow up if you are able to find one and deliver it. Also be sure to clear it with mom, if she ain't happy no one is happy. |

I helped a friend swap a manual tranny into a '69 AMX when I was in hgih school. Way cool cars. Handled pretty decently as well. |

As I recall, Mr Donahue did rather well in his |

My uncle had an AMX with a 390 and 4 speed. It was really good at doing burn-outs. Not much else ........ |

there was one for sale here local in WV. it was a solid old car. I will try to find it again and see if it ever sold |

I have a buddy with a VERY nice AMX in Portland. He is an AMC nut. I don't know if it is for sale but I can ask. Send me a PM. This will be on the very high end of AMC values. It is spectacular. Larry |

When I was a junior in high school, there was a guy two years older than me that had two 69 AMX's and a 67-68 Shelby. Cool cars back in '75 to see. |

You are a good solid man to think of something like this for your father, truly all heart. This ones at the top of your range but it looks like a nice example for the money- original sales documents, looks clean in and out. The best advice anyone can give for buying a classic car is to buy the nicest example you can afford if all you want to do is tinker. I consider a daily driver like the example below to be ready for tinkering and low on discouragement. Well in pictures and description at least. |

Sooper, Thanks for the kind words and for the link. That car looks like it would be the ideal candidate. I certainly will be watching that auction. |

Unfortunately the car is no longer for sale... |

Thanks for all the help and for keeping an eye out. Keep the ads and leads coming. |

I restored and gave my father a 1956 Cushman Eagle scooter a few years ago as a X-mas gift. He had dreamed of owning one as a teen in the 50's. He still tells everyone he meets who will listen the story of how I suprised him with it. If the AMX was your dad's "dream car" when he was young, I am sure he will really treasure the gift like my father did/does his Cushman. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/342818-two-cushman-eagles-should-i-buy-them.html |

Tim, thanks for the post and inspiration! Even brought a tear to my eye reading it as I know my father would ahve the same response. This just seems like something that I HAVE to do. Thank you again, Jeremy |

I have actually been in that factory some years back - it was closed down, empty and anbandoned but you could still see the imprint of the AMC logo on the building. For me very cool |

What a great idea and a good son. Can I adopt U? I like old XKE's? I always want the AMC Eagle AWD for a snow car. |
