Options for moving a car from Sioux City to Cinci
I'm needing to move a car from Sioux City to Cincinnati. U Haul won't rent me a trailer since I have a Ford Explorer '06 (citing safety issues). I'd prefer to move it myself vs. getting a carrier. What are some possible options?
The car is a 1962 VW, was parked a few years ago in running condition but hasn't run since, so I'm sure getting it running will require a bit of work.... Thanks

I moved a car inside a U-Haul truck once. Buy a used or new tow dolly.

A '63 bug has got to be one of the easiest cars to tow flat. Buy a used tow bar.
Will Uhurl rent you a dolly? Not needed for such a light car that is RWD and stick. But... |

Uhaul wants to rent a truck with the dolly/trailer.....
Buy a tow bar (about $60) and a set of magnetic tow lights ($30). Drive to Sioux City. Take the front bumper off the bug and bolt the tow bar on. Hook up the lights and tow home. Cost $100< and gas.

you need a VW tow bar like mine. slips on the torsion bar from underneath and two pins hold it on. less than 5 minutes to install. works only on old VWs. you could probably fab one up for less than $50

good call on the tow bar, I used to have one of those back in the day, but got rid of it when I purged my VW collection. I bet I can find one on Samba.
thx
