My flat screen is dying
It just turned yellowish after flipping from bright to yellowish for several days.
I'm gonna shut it off for awhile and see what that does. It's not really matched to the card in my tower. Is that what's killing (killed) it? |
See if adjusting the cable changes the colors.
|
The FL inverter could be going or caps are dying.

As above, adjust the cable. Unplug & replug. But computer monitors appear to have a slim 2 - 5 year life span from what I have gone through.

I just wiggled the cable. Back to bright. Who'd a thunk?
Much obliged. |
Yup, cable loose or cable going bad will do that...
|
Is it a Sony Bravia?
|
HP f2105. This sucker is bright now. I'm going to adjust the brightness.

Well Milt, it is time to get a better setup. Try a 34 to 36 inch HD TV with PC HDMI input such as the Sony I bought last month and put in a video card that with a HDMI output and you will be knocked over! My 34 inch monitor was less than $300 at Walmart, the video card with 1GB of memory was $49 and my eyes do not get tired any longer! If wondering what to do, check out MPEG . ORG - MPEG Home for ideas.

Well, I found out that it wasn't the cable. I'm using the old cable on my new monitor. This new monitor is a POS, especially the speakers. Since the problem could be temporarily fixed by moving the cable connection at the monitor, do you think I can get a new multi pin plug and install it?
The old monitor has memory card slots, side mounted USBs, and a firewire connection that I never did know what that did. Oh, I guess that was for the USBs and card slots. Never used them. Seemed like a pretty good set up but it is an HP that is 6 years old at this point. Or maybe someone has some speakers they could sell me for not too much. :) |
You probably use old-style analog RGB-cable which has lot's of pins and is prone to problems. If monitor has DVI, use it instead.

As I said, I could wiggle the cable and the colors would return to normal. It does have DVI input, but my tower does not have that output that I know of. That would probably work changing the input.
Edit: I just found out it IS the cable! Putting new cable in now. |
