Painting a front spoon sight...
I'd like to paint the front sight on my Taurus TCP white so that it better contrasts with the rear sights. This is a very small spoon, all black, and the sights are only about 2mm tall. I've already tried to paint it once, but the paint came off in the ultrasonic cleaner after the first range outing. Any suggestions on a paint that won't come off so easily?

The problem is.........
the ultrasonic cleaner. I don't think you will find any paint that will stand up to that kind of process except maybe an epoxy based paint. An alternative could be to polish the rear edge of the front sight with an abrasive so that you would be looking at bright metal. Of course, that process would be permanent. You could repaint the sight and then not clean it ultrasonically. At least you have a couple of choices on which way to go! Good luck!

My wife has a black stainless TCP.... Yes the sights are are tough to see (the LCP sights are even tougher to use). These tiny easily concealed guns IMO are strictly for close up encounters where sights are not really too important. For "fun" I have plinked with it out to 25 yards, but I have my wife simply practice at 5-7 yards max drawing and firing at center mass of a large carboard IDPA target.
To answer your question, all I can say is that you need to scuff the metal then get it absolutely clean prior to dabbing paint on it. You might try to find some etching primer to dab on first, but I doubt it would be worth it. That and you don't need to be ultrasonically cleaning the thing each time you shoot it. My wife's TCP probably has 300 rounds through it and I have only taken the slide off once for a quick cleaning. My Glock only gets cleaned a couple times all summer long with thousands of rounds fired. I have owned guns my whole life and the only gun that gets cleaned nearly every time I use it, is my .22 Ruger target pistol and that is cleaned primarily to keep the lightened trigger pull perfect. Modern guns firing modern ammo simply do not need to be cleaned as often as they typically are.

Thanks for the replies. I will try an epoxy paint.
Tim, you are absolutely correct. It doesn't need to be cleaned. But some of us need to clean our guns... ![]()

Night sights come to mind, I have them on my Sigma, it is the only way to see them atop an all black gun

Apparently you have never tried looking down the sights of a TCP or LCP.

Get a p238. Basically the same size, 6+1 .380, great recoil management due to the all metal construction and it has night sights...
