Any Set designers in the house?

I've had my offer on a new place adopted and it was built in 1963.
It's a TIME WARP! the kitchen is 100% perfect! cabinets, counters & appliances are 100% bone stock and scratch free.

Imagine waking up in a nice house built in 1963 that is frozen in time! there's no discoloration on the burners!

Joanna wants a modern kitchen and it must go. It kills me to see this bit of Americana go. PM me for details and pics. I will close on this home in 30 days.

Got any pics? I love stuff from that era. And not so much the Ikea modern stuff the POs stuck in my kitchen.

When we were looking in Houston, we saw one house that had a 1965 kitchen, in Pink.

Oh, and the living room carpet? Lime Green. Yummy....

NOT!

All of the wood in the house is 100% perfect. The doors have never been painted. 2,200 sq foot home on a near 1/2 acre in So-cal

What is that, a house for ANTS???!!!!!

TGTIW 11-11-2011 05:45 AM

Maybe we're just really far away from the house?

Zeke 11-11-2011 07:18 AM

Well, I can't blame you wife for wanting more efficient and higher performance appliances, but ripping out the entire affair is silly. At least put the kitchen up for sale.

I'd PM for the pics, but can you post them here for all to see? No ant sized ones. ;)

I work in the Art Dept on movies and TV. Work with set decorators all day long. If you have some pics I can put you in contact with Mad Men or some prop houses that deal in vintage appliances if your looking to sell, or some Mid century modern places if you want to keep the vintage vibe.

while you're at it, I'd make it a little bigger!!

Yeah...the house I recently bought and am living in is the same. My Grandparents built it in 1961. The wall oven is tiny but bakes better than any other we have ever used. The cabinets are in great shape, but just too small and there is no place for a dishwasher...so we will also remodel. I may move most of it into my basement and set up an overkill kitchenette/bar for my mancave...as it is just too nice to throw out.

Here's a website if you want ideas or want to sell appliances, cabinets, etc.
Remodel and decorate your mid century ranch, Cape Cod, colonial or modern home in authentic vintage style -- research on products, ideas, inspiration

I've been offline for days while moving.

The kitchen is in great shape and I would love to see it saved for someone to use again.

Thanks for the site, I'll check it out when I have some more time!

Jim,

If you need help with the layout and design, give me a call. No charge of course, you will just have to show me your Campy letter opener or knife and talk bikes. I have access to open box, high end appliance dealer with full factory warranty. It might be worth your time just to talk to them. The savings can be a couple of grand, depending on what they have on hand. Things will let up for me after the holidays. I am just trying to breath right now.

The faucet and dish washer yes.

The cabinets match the rest of the wood in the home.
