My next door neighbor did a transcontinental trip lasst year. They landed in Ecuador, and ended the trip in the Atlantic side of Brazil. A bunch of retired guys went and hired this guide service to get them through it. What a heck of a trip. Some areas got a bit rough and they had to work to get through it.

tropical rain forests are exotic

even with all the med shots you should take, if someone is sensitive to catching a flue etc, chances are that they'll get a mosquito bite that will blow up for a few days. The group I was with in Ecuador had a few that were sensitive including my bride. The tour group person said there's always about 10% of the group which this happens to.

At Machu Picchu same deal with altitude sickness

I say go and take the bumps as they come but don't go if you have a nuance for complaining

I'm boarding a flight in 10 min. to LA and then Shanghai. That's my exotic vacation this year.

Have done all the travelling I'm interested in...which is good, because Cindy can't travel these days.

My favorite spot? The Southern Turkish Coast...bay of Fetiye (sp?) area. Gorgeous!

I want to take a big trip for my 38th birthday this year. Thailand, China, Australia, Bali, Costa Rica... All on my list of ideas for possibilities. But who knows... Work might get in the way. :(

After you are done with all that "I have traveled the world thing" take a look around and see what the North American continent has to offer. I understand that you are programmed to go there. I am telling you there is so much here.

Embraer 11-12-2011 06:15 PM

ive been to every state, and i'll certainly agree with dennis' statement.

America the beautiful!

I'm heading to Belize in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to snorkeling and hanging out on the beach. I'm not looking forward to landing on what appears to be a sidewalk surrounded by water:

Work sucks, but those would be some awesome destinations. I would love to go dive the great barrier reef....

I'd love to travel the US too. There are definitely some beautiful things to see.

Belize is another place I would love to go dive. Just some amazing stuff down that way.

I have been to a few places around the world. Now, I love to pack up my Land Cruiser and drive up to the northern most part of Alaska with my kids. I don't think they (wife included) will like that too much, but its in my to do list. Only if I was younger and without kids, then I would have spend 6 months in Asia somewhere working odd jobs and really see the place. Start in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and end up in Australia somewhere. Back in 99, I spend 2 months in Hong Kong, Macau, and China. What a blast.

You need to do a wall dive in Grand Cayman, Sid.
A guy I know is a dive master there and claims it is the best experience (underwater) that you could have.

Travel is so personal, some places are thick with great natural destinations, others are full of opportunities exploring antiquities and/or culture, and still others offer a great combination of all those things. I've been many places, and the easiest for most people to love was Italy. But for much different reasons I've traveled to Nepal a couple of times and I can't seem to shake the desire to go back again. Kathmandu is an experience all by itself, but my primary interests lie in the Himalayas .....they are something else, like Porsches, there is no substitute. Part of the fun is the selection process, good luck with that.

On the domestic front, since 66 has turned into one large tourist trap, I've always thought Hwy. 20 would be the east-west "see the real america road"...It runs from Newport Oregon to Boston.

U.S. Route 20 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Too late for me to do it, but maybe some of you youngsters could...

My list of places I would like to visit is endless, so I will list 2012 plans. We have been mulling over a visit to New Zealand in the next year with the possibility of moving there in the future. In the next year I will probably make my first trip to Arizona and Ireland(if NZ doesn't happen). Also my son will be 12 next year, I am thinking DC would be a good long weekend trip.
