Fond Goodbye to Buff Boy
He was one of our main roosters, self appointed sheriff of the barnyard. We kept about one rooster per eight to ten hens, Buff Boy fathered better than a third of all offspring. He used to also break up the fights between the turkeys. Three pound bird taking on 40 plus pound birds.
Wife was home today and saw Buff Boy take on and lose to a falcon. He was protecting the ladies like always. He was three. Very good bird! We will miss him! ![]()

Sorry to hear it. Roosters are so cool - all bluster and no idea of their real power. We had a bantam named Moses, survived an attack by a coyote and was killed years later by his flock in his old age. Chickens are weird.
