14 days in the Adirondacks.

Many have me beat here. I went 5 days ... backpacking over and back of the Sierra Nevada. I can relate to the OP...I got in my car the day after driving home (and multiple showers) and the smell inside was best described as "alive"...LOL.

I am not anal about bathing...1 shower per day - if I hit the gym then a + shower prior to bed.

Plus 1 on this.

What comes to mind is that some people actually like to "smell like a man" on occasion. My question to you is "why"?

-I suspect that most people who like this have a sexual reason.

When I was 12, my Boy Scout troop went to a cabin near Hell, Michigan, and I went a day without a shower. I stunk! On two occasions, I have done "dual crew" flights on the 747, and I spent over 24 hours on that airplane [yes, according to the Federal Aviation rules, that is legal. And some people even think that sort of thing is safe~], where there is no shower. I stunk.

I wear a lot of deodorant, but no matter how tired I am when I get to the hotel room at 7 AM after flying all night for my airline, I ALWAYS take a quick spray off in the shower. I can't sleep otherwise!

I hardly ever get coughs, colds, and haven't had the flu since I was a kid. I'm convinced that my running and my careful hygiene are responsible for this.

I find I ALWAYS need to take a shower after flying commercial, not sure what it is, but it dries my skin into flakes, and I also smell really bad. I always take a shower before I leave for the airport, going in clean makes no difference to the outcome. :(

3 days, camping at a long-distance shooting seminar. In the desert. No water except what we trucked in ourselves--so it was reserved for drinking and cooking. I'm a greasy, hairy mofo and I was about ready to claw my skin off by the end of the second day.

Next time I'll bring an RV instead of a 1-man backpacking tent!

Exactly. I can't sleep properly if I don't spray off for 30 seconds after a flight. I literally feel the need to get the "airplane" off of my skin. It might have something to do with the fact that our old 727's are probably the most filthy vehicles in existence. Taxi cabs are gross, but there is NO vehicle more filthy than an airplane! If it flies, it is disgusting dirty. Look at birds...

Disgusting but doable. IMO most of the problem is in your head.

What I found most interesting was how smells that would normally go unnoticed suddenly become very prominent.
Like women's perfume or what type of body wash they're using. Or if someone has used toothpaste that morning.

Smokers especially smell like ash trays.... ( I smoke. :( )

Like in The Book of Eli... The Book of Eli (2010) - IMDb

Denzel was able to complete his ablutions with one KFC wipe.

As a little kid living in Hawaii in the very early 60s I would go weeks without a bath. Heck I almost never wore shoes or a shirt.

Since my teenage years never more than a day.

Down by the river?

12 days. Me and a friend hitchhiking to the Riviera at the ripe age of 17. Our parents went crazy worrying about us. No shower, only the the clothes we wear wearing when we left and no money but for one pizza a day and a few beer, sleeping on the ground. Upon returning the stench was described as unbearable.. :D

crustychief 11-16-2011 07:25 AM

21 Days, Iraq. Diaper wipes help a lot.

Best shower of my life.

Hmm. Never kept track of this personal statistic.

I went sailing for 6 weeks in college. I had a salt water shower once every 2nd or 3rd day. And it rained once, so I stood underneath a trickle of water coming off the roof of the lab on the ship. But no real fresh-water showers for 6 weeks.
