Waltham Pocket Watch

Hi Guys

I've been left a lovely old Waltham Watch Company pocket watch through my late Grandfather. It's in a silver case and I've dated it to 1888 based on its serial number. It's not in great condition externally and it's missing its cover glass.

Any idea what it may be worth? It's not getting sold, but I want to get an idea on whether I go to the trouble of getting it restored or just keep it as is.

I think it's going to cost me a couple of hundred to get cleaned up... but I like things to work

It belonged to your Grandfather, it is worth it..
I'm having my father's old watch restored, sure I could replace it for much less, but that isn't the point..

I'll bet its not as much to replace the crystal and clean it as you'd think.

I've got a Waltham, too - I'll take some photos of it and post them up.

Not sure of their value, but I know what you mean about other value, I've got my grandfather's old Omega Seamaster which I'd like to get restored.

I've done my "googling" and due dilligence Although not particularly valuable, it is cool and it's "family" so I will get some quotes throught the week and get it all cleaned up.

From what I can work out it's a Rail Road time piece...
