Two men killed by SUV while fighting on Florida road

NORTH FORT MYERS — Authorities say two men fighting in the middle of a southwest Florida road were fatally hit by an SUV.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 47-year-old John William Barr and 45-year-old Jerry Bramlett were involved in a physical altercation Sunday night in the middle of a North Fort Myers road.

As two vehicles were approaching the men, officials say the lead vehicle swerved into another lane to avoid them, but the second apparently didn't see the fighters in time and hit them with her SUV. Both men were reported dead at the scene.

Authorities were investigating the cause of their fight.

The SUV's driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. No charges were immediately reported for the crash.

No, they brought the fist to SUV territory,ergo....
kinda like fighting on the train tracks,then being shocked you got hit by a SUV...,errr... train.

Getting back to the fight....I say this all the time.....these people who get into fights....most of them are POT SMOKERS! It's the THC that gets into their blood and brain and makes them AGRO. You look at the bar fights for example....yup - pot smokers who are jacked up on POT!

I'm not saying smoking herb is good or bad - just commenting on it's effects on certain humans.....who get into these ridiculous fights that NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND (especially non-pot smokers) would be involved in.

And yes alcohol is also responsible for AGRO behaviour....but that pot.....:rolleyes:

I don't know if there was a video, I suspect not. I can't see the above vids at work.

Based on the article, I'm not sure why the driver that hit them should be charged. I guess the route that could be taken is that the driver was following too closely. If the gap had been larger, then when the first vehicle swerved, the second would have had enough time to react.

I feel sorry for the woman driving the SUV and as for the guy in the video, he got what he deserved.

I'm sure all the civilized places I've been do not condone fist-fights by grown men in the middle of the roads. In the less than civilized places that did condone fist-fighting in the road, my experience has been that it was an at-your-own-risk activity, and it behooved the combatants to cede right-of-way to any vehicles.
