BMW fans, Any thought on the new 3 Series due out soon?

2012 BMW 3 Series Front End Photo 20

I am in the market for a new BMW sedan. Although I really like my Bangle designed 2008 550i for its combination of size, shape, and performance, it is going to fall off the "sweet spot" for used car value if I hold on to if for too long. The older E39 were too small in the back, the new 5 series is basically a slightly shorter 7 series. They are making the 3 series bigger so it will be close the e60's in overall size. The styling looks good. I generally don't buy new cars, but this might be an exception. I even have looked at the new Audi's which are growing on me. But it sounds like owning an Audi's has been the subject of many other posts here. I have to see the new 3 series in all black with a sport package before any decisions can be made.

i'm ordering a new 1 series sports hatch next month same engines as the 3 , but lighter.
My current 118D will take a 320 out to play and the 320 would invariably end up looking at my backend.
Don't have wife or kids, so backseat space don't care bout that.

Dont let the posts about oldr Audi cars scare you off. I have several years or trouble free use out of my 06. I wouldn't want to do any work on it, but its a great car.

I think the new 3-series looks great. I have an e46 that will likely be replaced by one in the coming years - assuming they don't bring a 5-door 1-series to the states. . . . .

For perspective, the new turbo motor puts out more power and torque than the S52 in my E36 M3.

I hate that it's larger in every dimension. Again.

I don't like the fact that all US 3 series are now turbos. No more normally aspirated 3.

I'd never buy a turbo car, just don't like the added complexity, etc. Just not necessary to me on a family sedan/commuter/grocery getter.

But, I keep my cars a long time, and do all the maintenance on them. For most people that just lease the car then turn it in after 3 years, I guess turbo is no big deal.
