The Mustang visibility issue sounds exactly like a Challenger I had for a rental last year, the monstrous c-pillars hid entire cars. I drove it in Phoenix rush hour traffic and was terrified to even change lanes.
I had a 2012 Mustang V6 convertible a few months ago as a rental, overall impressions were mixed. The V6 is a fantastic motor......mated to a crapbox of an automatic. It was obviously tuned for MPG, content to lug the engine at 1000 RPM until you shove the gas pedal through the floor prompting a delayed 3 gear downshift. The suspension was 100% highway cruiser, I drove some of the national forest W of Tucson and it bobbed and weaved like a Buick. The dash design is a huge improvement over past Mustangs, but the door panels were still composed of hard, cheap plastic. With a 420 HP V8 and a decent suspension it would have been fun, but in basic guise......not so much. |
I was planning on adding a new Boss 302 to my garage. Until Ford announced the new GT Track Pack option (its $10K less).

Matt, You want a visibility issue? Sit in a Nissan 370Z sometime. Based on magazine test reports, I thought I wanted one. One climb into the driver's seat convinced me otherwise. At 6'3", 240...no way.
I frankly don't understand Matt's Mustang complaint...I think outward visibilty is quite good. Both side mirrors large and easily adjusted from the driver's seat. The rear quarter windows do give a vew, the view out the back window is fine. But then the Bullitt model has the same seats as the GT500 of that year...maybe that makes a difference? I'll confess to not having driven a base model. I just wasn't interested in them. BTW, the Brembo brakes & 3:73 rear end were available since the 2011 model year...with the manual gearbox only. However, that total 2013 track package sounds very attractive! Lots of goodies there for one low price. Must resist temptation...must drive my money out of the Bullitt...it's more than enough to get me to the pool hall & back...MUST resist...Must resist...;) |
There is one Boss 302 within 200 miles of Seattle. The MSRP is $63k!!!! Get real. I paid $10k less for a loaded 997S with only 13k miles and CPO warranty.
