Android 2.3 to Android 3.2

I upgraded my Tablet this weekend.

I played with the bigger ones, 10", like the iPad, but found them too big. The 7" is one handable and easy to work with. I settled with a Samsung Galaxy Tab (original) which came with Android 2.2, but which was upgraded to 2.3 by the OEM.

It worked, but something happened in the upgrade and the unit was never stable. I expect either my hardware has a memory problem, or there is a ROM problem. My buddy has the same unit, and no problems.

Last weekend, there was a deal on the the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0. This is a similar unit, but...dual core, thinner and Honeycomb 3.2. So, having more money than sense, I picked one up. It is Wifi only, but effectively my original unit was Wifi only, since I never setup service with Sprint. I have one of those MiFi pucks for wifi on the go, which was basically a free add on for switching to AT&T.

Anyway, 3.2 is STABLE. And slick. I'm still getting used to a few of the changes, but they all work. This unit is 16GB, but it has expansion via MicroSD. For $16, I put in a 16GB MicroSD.

The interface is a bit better. The Screen is full high Def. With this, you can touch the area that is the clock and pull up the main controls. Apps are one touch away. Quick apps and widgets are on "5 screens" with the prime screen in the middle. Text is sharp. Colors are vivid. And the screen works well in full sunlight at the highest setting.

Android 2.3 was very good. But Honeycomb just works for the tablet. I can't wait until 4.0 Ice-cream sandwich becomes available. Everyone is supposed to be able to upgrade to Ice-cream sandwich!

And yes, I have an iPhone now too. Call me Bi-Polar or Split Personality...SmileWavy

I agree on being the ideal screen size....I just bought an re-furbished 7" Android Tablet (Pandigital Novel) for $77. It's a great size to read Ebooks.

LOL. Honestly, though, it took me forever to figure out what everyone was talking about when they said, "ICS".
