Even better than a Mustang . . .
Blasphemy! As we have all been educated, there is no automobile on earth that can match the greatness of the mighty Mustang! To say otherwise will show your obvious snobbery and hatred for America.
A true American icon. I love the looks of those cars and the era they represent.

I'm not sure any of us could grow a good enough mullet to drive that...

I wonder how my Mustang would look with that chicken on the hood? :D
Send it to the shop and we can put one on the hood for ya Kurt...

If you've never had to pick one of those doors up off the floor, you may well have avoided hernia or back surgery. I think they weigh about 250lbs each.
5 days left and the auction is up to $20K already. I don't understand why is it so expensive?
Because it's a Firechicken Trans-outhouse.
(Sorry...I used to work at a Pontiac dealer when that car was new). |
Do want!
A real DREAM car. I bet it smells like Burt Reynolds.
And coors!
Wow! Talk about bloated pig!
Back in the day I had a 78 moostang II mach I with a 302 2bbl (115 hp) and my brother had a 1978 Z-28 (140 hp).
The screaming chicken was many times better than either of those monsters. |
As a kid I watched Smoky and the Bandit way too many times. It's cool in a weird sorta way, but not $20k+ cool.

Lost on 66 An old Trans Am by the side of the road That needs a headlight fixed Trans Am |
My best friend had the 1977 Bandit T/A back in 1982.
We spent many hours in that car pretending to be cool. Well, he was because he sort of looked like Burt Reynolds and was popular. I was a dorky 9th grader.:( It wasn't that fast but we had loads of fun. |
Yep...by the time the '79 Trans Am came along...the performance was gone. It was a dark period...
Fascinating car. One showed up at our autocrosses every month and did pretty well. Lot's of smoke and noise. If I had one I'd keep a Waylon Jennings tape in the cassette deck and find a way to make it smell like bourbon and seegars. Prolly couldn't afford the gas to actually drive it.
My friend drove his later model Trans Am on the Tail of the Dragon a few years ago with me and I was surprised at how well the car handled.

I'm sure it far, far outperforms one of the originals, but it's not nearly as attractive. http://www.dankoreproductions.com/wp...m-licensed.jpg |
I've always preferred this front end to the one in the original post.
http://saabworld.net/attachments/f14...c_trans_am.jpg I'd prefer this one though http://www.78ta.com/store/images/C/1...peed%20002.jpg |
