Anyone making money on your You tube account?
Last week I got a message from Google that I was now welcome to join in some kind of partnership to make money on my you tube account if I allow them to place adds on my channel.
Anyone else experience with this concept? I don´t feel comfortable doing it. First of all my clips are crap and I am just amazed the view count is increasing at all. Secondly, it feels awkward making money out of it - even if the clips were good.

I have not done it.. Yet... The things that are posted are for fun. I don't see a reason to bugger them up........... Unless......... I hear that people are making a few $$. I might reconsider.

That is how I feel about it too. Its primarily a way for me to remember the short tunes I come up with occasionally and save them easily without crowding the disk of my computer. Its amazing how much space a one minute analog recording requires!
Also its quite fun to plague you with it!

My account was selected, but I haven't done if either, as all my videos that get lots of hits are from concerts, material I don't own the rights to.

I think anyone that gets over a few hundred hits gets that email. Honestly I suspect you'd get about $0.001 per display of the add, so unless you're someone that gets a few hundred thousand views, it's probably not worth it....
I got it too and declined simply because I don't want to annoy people with ads for the few hundred views my racing vid's get....

Well I wonder though, if you tagged all your videos with "fluffer" that you might actually make a living off of it. Not saying don't do it, but my thought was "why annoy all my friends with ads for $10/year"..

I have some friends whose son does these long strings of dominoes falling over. I believe he gets $.07 for every view from YouTube. This is something YouTube promotes as it is cute and wholesome. I don't think he as made $1000 yet. It has been a while.

Thats the standard promo and another revenue stream for them. I refuse to have some irratating ad on my vids and just want the viewer to see what they came for.
I suppose if one has another gone viral stupid 'pie in the face' and 1/2 mil eat the vid, good for them if they can get a payout. |

Now I get it. I didn´t understand where the ads are placed. They put it at the start of your video, right? Forcing viewers to see while waiting for the actual clip.
No way I will accept that. What would my fans say??!!
