Honestly, if durability is your concern, you should absolutely invest in a Rolex. Probably the most durable, well built watch in existence....and they appreciate in value. My old DateJust set me back about $3500 about 20 years ago. Traded it in recently on another Rolex and got $4500 for it from an Authorized Dealer. It operated and looked like new despite years of abuse.

Agree on the huge "clocks" people are wearing these days. My Submariner seems big to me, but works well with my aging eye-sight. Can't imagine anything bigger though.

Apparently there was a lot of oral cancer from that. The women who would paint with the radium often licked their paintbrushes to moisten them, and thereby got irradiated that way.

Maybe you just need a manlier wrist. :p




Yeah, I'm not a big watch kinda guy either. It looks Flava Flav cartoonish, after awhile. But that's personal style I suppose. Watches too big don't fit under motorcycle jackets w/gauntlet gloves.

Maybe so on the Rolex...we'll see. I just have trouble justifying $ thousands when a $200 watch functions so well. So far so good with the Hamilton tho...on it's 2nd battery, just keeps working. I'm now at an age where buying green bananas is a risk...so this is probably my final watch.

Bingo on the eyesight thing...another reason I love the Hamilton simple dial, it's a very easy read in all light conditions.

My Breitling ChronoAvenger is 44mm in diameter and 17.6mm in thickness and it fits just fine under my motorcycle jackets and gloves. I wouldn't go larger than about 46mm, as that'd look like some metro sexual poseur watch. I just wish Rolex would make a GMT in at least 43mm diameter. The current ones are just too puny on my wrist.
