Truth Comes Out: McDonalds Cashier Beating Video

Interesting turn of events in the McDonalds cashier beating saga. The original story that came out from the victims was that they questioned the cashier about a bill and he went crazy and started beating them.

Low and behold, a video has surfaced with the whole thing caught on tape. Turns out the victims attacked him first, jumped the counter and then got beat with a pipe after cornering him.

The cashier has been fired from McD's but I'm sure there will be a wrongful termination suit soon since this video was released. I feel like he went overboard with the pipe beating but clearly he did not go "suddenly crazy for no reason" as the victims claimed. Just goes to show, in this day and age, if you're going to claim something happened, it better be true because more often than not, there is a camera rolling!

I'm certainly not defending the cashier, but with all the crazies in the world today, if someone were to jump over the counter at me, I'd probably react the same way. Who knew if they had a gun, etc....I'm with you, they got off easy.

Multiple attackers vs single person, you could easily be killed. Stop them from being able to harm you. If you stop before they are dead, that's your choice and is ok. If you attack someone, you deserve whatever you get. Back in the day, two guys may have been able to get in a "friendly" fist fight and then be buds later. These days, screw that.

Looks like self defense to me.

May have been a whack or two more than neccesary at the end but they could have been kicking him or he could have "thought" they were reaching for something.

If I were on the jury I'd need more to convict him.

Hmm, so apparently the cashier did a 10+ yr stretch for shooting and killing a classmate.

The "victims" were also alleged to have been drunk.

Just goes to show that alcohol and recently release violent felons is a bad mix.

As was posted in another thread regarding this incident, as long as you stay on your side of the counter, we're fine. The minute you climb over or walk around and come onto MY side of the counter, you're fair game...you can darn well bet I'm switching to defense mode.

Swing away, Merrill!

Totally agree, especially when its two or more against one person. I could are less if its guys or gals, anyone can fight dirty and you can die. They come at me like this and the rules go out the window, its self defense.

Well, he may be a hero but he's no Bernie Goetz

Victims are not blameless by any stretch of the imagination. They were the aggressors by jumping over the counter.

However, near the end of the video the woman is clearly "on the floor" behind the counter as the employee continues the beating... and has to be hauled off by his co-worker... looks like a bit more than reasonable force to subdue being used there.
