End of an Era for KevinP73

As of Nov.1 2011 I am NO longer associated/employed/or a partner in Automotive Innovations and Restoration LLC. also known as A.I.R. LLC. . After 20 years of owning and operating the business I started, the time has come to let go. Not for reasons I like but for reasons beyond my means and ability to control.
Nuff said,
Kevin P.

Dueller 12-05-2011 12:41 PM

Good luck in whatever the future holds.

Jim Richards 12-05-2011 12:43 PM

Sorry to hear that, Kevin. Best wishes to you.

pwd72s 12-05-2011 01:05 PM

Damn! Hope you salvaged the Corvairs...

kaisen 12-05-2011 01:11 PM

Good luck in the NEXT chapter. You'll find your way to something great

The only thing that changes is how I answer the phone and endorse the checks. I'm still at my present location and my phone number remains the same. I suspect that the biggest change will be with A.I.R. as it goes forward without me.

slodave 12-05-2011 01:16 PM

You going to start selling stripper poles out of the shop now?

Good luck!

nostatic 12-05-2011 01:29 PM

Condolences and/or congrats, whichever is most appropriate. Sounds like maybe a little of each.

Sounds like a similar situation as my guy in NY.

It was the best turn of events for him and business in general.

Cheers,
Scott

Rot 911 12-05-2011 01:40 PM

Hope all goes well with you as you move forward.

DavidI 12-05-2011 02:11 PM

Kevin, good luck as you move forward. You are a solid character, and good things will come, David

Zeke 12-05-2011 03:11 PM

The problem usually starts when you become a partner/employee of a company that was at one time solely yours. You fall into that category?

azasadny 12-05-2011 03:21 PM

Best wishes to you, Kevin. A new chapter starts...

tevake 12-05-2011 03:31 PM

So what is in a name anyway? Especially in an independent car repair shop its all about the people working there and quality of the service. I bet most of your regulars won't even notice the change. Or be bothered about it if they do notice.

All the best to you going forward.

Cheers Richard

Flieger 12-05-2011 07:13 PM

Wow!

Flieger 12-05-2011 07:13 PM

So now all those Excellence magazine articles will need to be edited.

Flieger 12-05-2011 07:20 PM

Is this still your shop and contact info, then? It is just that you are no longer AIR now?

God speed! I wish the best for your next endeavor.

slodave 12-05-2011 07:33 PM

Max, read post #6. It's spelled out.

KevinP73 12-05-2011 07:41 PM

The phone and the address remain the same. The web site belongs to the current owner of the company, what he does with it is up to him.
I haven't decided yet but being as I use KevinP73 on all the boards I participate on I'll probably use that as the new company name. I already own the domain KevinP73dot com but use it for my kayak accessories sales. I'll have to fine tune that before long so I can have a web presence again.

john70t 12-05-2011 07:42 PM

Sold the company itself and is now working for the new owner?
That is f'in difficult on every single level.

You'll remain the cornerstone Kevin. One step back.

slodave 12-05-2011 07:42 PM

Kevins-stripperpoles.com?

Brillo 12-05-2011 08:36 PM

All the best to you Kevin as you go forward.

Evans, Marv 12-05-2011 08:49 PM

The best to you Kevin. Make it a change definitely for the better.

looneybin 12-06-2011 11:22 AM

do the poles come with the stripper already installed?

lane912 12-06-2011 11:30 AM

strippers include the poll instail for a small charge arround these parts

Kevin and I formed Automotive Innovations & Restorations, LLC in the beginning of 2010. Kevin contributed his existing business and expertise, and I contributed a lot of money. After nearly two years of operating at a consistent loss, and a difference about the future direction of the business, we mutually agreed to part ways. As part of the split, I became the owner of the AIR brand and the website, and Kevin retained the location, phone number and the right to use the AIR name and website if he wishes. IMO, Kevin is a true master craftsman, with unparalleled skills and abilities to repair our Porsches.

The new AIR is still an idea/work in process, which is not yet fully formed, but I don't plan on being in the collision repair or body business. I'll leave that to the master.

Joeaksa 12-13-2011 07:09 AM

Kevin,

Hope that things go well for you and you keep a smile on your face!

Merry Christmas and hope your holidays are just what you want/need!

End of an era? Nah, just the beginning of a new one. :)

good luck Kevin!

A couple of years ago, Kevin did some rust repair on the front fenders and right-side door of our '69, replacing rusty metal with new sheetmetal that he hand-formed. He then perfectly matched the paint. The result was brilliant. I absolutely could not tell where the repairs had been done. He provides an incredible resource for those of us here in the Lost Angeles area. I'm certainly hoping for the best for him.

fingpilot 12-20-2011 12:36 PM

I wanna know what is to become of the web feed.

Kev;

Can you install it on the stripper pole down the street?

Miss ya, Bud.

stealthn 12-20-2011 07:37 PM

Kevin, go gung ho on the kayak stuff i've got lots of ideas, and there's always a better mouse trap

Bob

Wow aren't you just the modern day pirate. Hijacking his company name isn't enough, now you feel the need to hijack a thread intended to give support and appreciation to someone we happen to respect and care about? And what’s with the history lesson? Why did you leave off the first 20 years that Kevin spent building the name and reputation you apparently couldn't build on your own
