Another Hero Left Us Today :-(

As some here know, I had been helping with a friend, a Retired doctor, Air-Force Col. Head Flight Surgeon, whose health had taken a major dive the last month, more than once, I had to take him to the ERs in Gainsville and Lake City, he is the one I took his uniform to at the VA in Lake City for Veterans Day (his sons both live in KY and his one daughter here just isn't strong enough t move him) to be with him for the VA ceremonies http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1323542075.jpg
Well, after being home less than a week, he started having trouble breathing, the home Nurse called 911, and he was rushed to a local hospital, the 1st day, he was weak, but OK, then Thurs night, had a massive stroke, and was less & less responsive.. So all the kids came in on Friday Night, and the decision was made to turn of the CPAP today, while all the kids were in town.. Not long after, Col. John Fielding left us and is finally out of pain:(
This hits a bit harder, as tomorrow (Dec. 11th) is the 18th anniversary of my Fathers passing... and people wonder why I don't like Christmas time...:(

RIP, we need more real heroes in our society today. You're a good man for helping Byron.

Thanks for the kind words & thoughts.. To give you an idea what kind of man he was, he kept his ribbons & medals in a box, and he had a lot of them too, while at the VA, he didn't want to intimidate the enlisted patients any more than his Birds already did..

It sounds like your friend was a fine man who has lived a better life than 10,000 other men.

Thank you for taking care of him.
