DeWalt replacement batteries?
I have a 7 or 8 year old 14.4V drill with dual batteries. For a homeowner application I have pummeled this thing and its new battery time...neither holds a charge very long. Thoughts on where to buy new batteries? I see them on ebay, but well, its ebay...
TIA |
I bought a 14.4 2 months ago online. Do a google search. It was around $50.00 plus shipping which is a smokin' deal compared to HD and Lowes.

Batteries + is not the cheapest but are likely to have them
did you ask DeWalt? they may tell you what Milwaukie told me -- Of course we have them! Just pay thru the nose. |
I have a Makita 14v drill with two bad batteries.
It was cheaper to just buy a new DeWalt 18v with two batteries and charger kit. Batts for the makita were $70-90 each. New drill was $99 on sale. I would have preferred to replace the batts on the old unit, but 'they' price them too high for too little. KT |
Sometimes it's only one cell in the pack that needs to be replaced. If you check around their are places that will rebuild the battery packs.

BTW - it may use NiCads. My Milwk. does. I figure when the batteries finally go all the way belly up, I'll recycle them, turn the drill into a bench unit (using a 12 v DC power supply), and buy one of the super improved things they make now with Lithium batteries. It might be time for you now...

I've seen a dozen videos about rejuvenating these things, but I like this guy.

Milt,
THANKS! I have a Panasonic with a crummy battery. I am going to try this ASAP. Larry |
I/we go through a pile of these batteries and have found that it makes financial sense to buy a new drill with two/three batteries on promo more than buying separate batteries. New drill, new batteries and new charger (with a new warranty) often goes for the same as the price of two new batteries. Silly, but that seems to be the reality around here. Thanks Zeke, I heard that there was a technique to do this. Cheers

Timely thread. I just went to use my DeWalt this weekend and both battery packs are toast.

I was told by a speciality battery shop that if the pack will come apart, then it can be rebuilt with the latest battery type for less than the cost of a new battery.
