Jeep Detailed + My New Nikon D3100

Just in case you missed, I recently purchased a new Nikon D3100, and I'm trying to learn all the functions and features. Over the weekend, I had another opportunity to continue to play with it while doing a detailing job.

Few pictures

Surface Evaluation shows a lot of defects on the paint surface.

After

Wash in process

Front end as found with badly faded fenders

Front end fully detailed, now the fenders have life again.

50/50 shot of the condition of the fenders before and after

Impressive! I doubt the fenders on my TJ will ever be black again...

PS: You need some aluminum wheels on that Wrangler, stat!

Looking good and it seems like you are figuring the camera out!

How is your 930 doing?

I had to chuckle at the concept of detailing a Jeep.

Personally, I "detail" mine with a medium sized hammer, when required. Which is a couple times a year, on average.

Thank you Guys!

I did try with the manual settings, but I'm definitely not ready for them

The secret to any good shine is the surface preparation, something that is often overlooked, if the surface is not free of contaminants, you will not be able to obtain good results. To do that there a series of steps, things like clay bar's, Oxidation block which I prefer over the clay bar, pre wax cleanser, swirl remover, foam pads, woold pads and compounds as needed. The entire system is the one that will give you those results.

The first tool is a digital magnified glass 500X which I used to evaluate the surface condition, so I know where I need to work more or to show customers the true condition of the surface, the second one is a Go-Pro. I recently started to film my motios and speeds of the buffer, and later I review it to improve with my own technic.

The Jeep was a plain Jane non sexy car but they too deserv luv

I was about to say...isn't detailing a jeep illegal in some states?

LOL. I hate even washing the car...detailing it sounds nuts. But damn it does look nice. Maybe I should take my car to someone to baseline it for me. My 911 still has wax in some of the edges from the prior owner. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Amazing work.

You have to be very careful with who you let detail your car! This is what a $30.00 detailing job did for this customer Lucky for him, he got his money back then it cost him $750.00. To have me fixed That car took 20 hours to do.

Those pictures were taken with my other camera that I never learned how to use.

There's a guy near me that does nice work. I sold him some Porsche seats and he was showing off his collection. It's really impressive work....I just don't have the patience for it. Hell, it rains the day after I wash my car. Always.

The customer is lucky it only cost $750 to fix. I've seen guys burn through the edges of the paint and character lines all the way to bare metal.

You did a wonderful job on these cars Juan! I know good work when I see it and yours is spectacular.

Thanks for the nice comments;

It boils down to two things, time and patience lots of it!! and the most difficult part educating the customer

Sorry I can't help it the 110K car with a dealer special free swirls to go!

say, Juan, what do you think of the Meguiar's Scratch-X and similar filler type products?
