6 or 7 years ago they removed 1/3 of the meniscus from my right knee. Pain IMMEDIATELY stopped. I never touched the post op Vicodin that they sent me home with. didn't need it. the relief that the surgery provided was all of the pain relief I needed.

Yeah a weird system but consider, for a surgeon, say 2k for lap chole..... For a 15 min case and one short follow up. or a 3 hr surgery, rounds for a week postop including weekends, 6 months of follow up, middle of the night phone calls, also 2k.

You think this is expensive? Just wait till it's free.

If we had liability limits in place for bona fide, licensed and practicing medical professionals the cost would be about 1/3 of that - if that.

You could go the DIY route.
