doc's where should i go
i've got a bunion that has gotten progressively worse over the past year or so and want to have it looked into as it is starting to hurt quite a bit. in fact ive gone away from the steel toed boots i've worn at work for years to a softer type hiking boot or i can hardly walk in the evenings.
so, do i go directly to an orthopedist or start with a podiatrist? do most podiatrist do that surgery or will they refer you to an ortho if you think surgery is required? i have a PPO so if i can directly to the surgeon if that is in fact required and would prefer such. ive already used a splint on it and other over the counter stuff with no relief. TIA |
Pods can do that surgery. Some ortho will do it as well, others think it is "beneath" them and refer it to the pods, at least in my town.
In other words either can do it- find the best one in your area. Gary |
In my experience, podiatrists do better forefoot surgery than orthopods.
Where are you, I am certain I know someone in the South Bay |
I know a GREAT one in San Ramon. worth the drive. Let me know if you want his number.
