Bought my wife a fire. She's no power user but she loves it. Surfs, shops, email/facebook, and watches movies. Great $200 device. On the movie thing, I asked her "You wanted 55 inch TVs everywhere and now you're walking around with a TV in your hand, WTF?" Anyway, it's good enough for her that she seldom opens her laptop now.
AS for the critics? "The critics may have a point, I had a flat tire on my car, My Kindle was right by my side but it had no jack or spare tire so what good was it. Another time my power went out at home and I was late for work. I had my Kindle with me the whole time but I was still late. I could go on but if you don't get the point ... a Kindle or any other tablet is beyond your skill set." :D |
Thanks for all the suggestions. I was ready to buy an ipad2, but what about the lack of a USB port?

What do you need to plug into it?

I got a BB Playbook coming. It has the 7" screen (just the right size) and should fit my bill for business. Buddy works there and nabbed it for me for $140 all in! Seems nobody else has these on here?

If your going to get a tablet you should be using it as intended. That is a media consumption device. Watch some movies. Read a book. Read a magazine. Surf the web.
If your going to be doing work get a Laptop. I support the Ipad in my work. I recommend the Fire. Its the cheapest, and the Amazon Cloud is pretty first rate. The nature of tablets is they should be traveling, in room to room, to work. Wonderful chances for being dropped, broken, stepped on, your kid will use it.. ectra. |

You might consider a HTC Evo View. I have seen them down around $220.00. 7" screen, magic stylus and lots off cool. It is only a single processor, but at 1.5GHz will surf the web and eread like no one's business.
I do have an iPad and a Gtablet. The iPad is easy to use. The gTablet was 1/3 the price. It works fine. I would seriously consider the HTC at this price though. |
I drank the kool aid and bought a 64g iPad. I'm pretty impressed with it though.
