sometimes you just forget how fun
they are and why we are really here....
Love of cars. Tonight I took out the Caddy - needed to get it moving - and get some air in one tire, as it is off to work tomorrow. It has been over 3 months since I have had it out... That sound - that American V8 NA sound. It might be in my American blood - but nothing sounds like that. When I got my caddy one of the first things I did was put a racing tuned exhaust on it... it sounds perfect. The caddy really is over the top - but in a wonderful 80s sort of way. Gold chains, digital watches, Flash Dance, big shoulders, Blondie, Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Just makes a girl grin :) |
There's a guy at the country club that has a pristine, red Allante. I always thought they were cool looking in a weird way. I liked the Buick Reatta's, too.

I checked out your garage once, that is one nice Caddie.

My brother in law has a Cad convertible. It's a '70 something and he says it's the longest car Cadilac ever produced. He & my sister love cruising around in that thing with the top down.

Hey Rick - look closely.... ;)
It is a great little car - however, it is an old guy magnet... I swear if someone was looking to snare an old rich guy- this is the car to own. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1323788164.jpg |

I don't think the Caddy's of today have any "soul" like they used to. Although, I suppose one could say this about many cars when compared to their older versions...
|
I have to agree. No other engine note can really compare with a good old American V8. Its just such a manly sound. Suits this fluffer. :D

Wasn't the Allante designed by Pinninfarina? The same guys that have done Ferrari, Alfa, Lamborghini, etc? Not my cup of tea, but I can see the attraction. One of my "bucket list" cars is a 69 Caddy, but I also love the huge boats of the 80s - I almost bought an 82 Fleetwood Brougham a few years back, but it had really bad paint. But man, I love a velour interior!

Friend of mine has one and yes, he is a old fart... he likes it and its an ok car but he is having problems finding some parts at times.

My grand mother had a 1976 Eldorado. The hood was the size of a queen size bed.

Yep Zeke -they have a rather long production line - the wire harness and a few other things were made in the USA first - flown over to Italy - where the body and the interior were made (alongside a more famous Pininfarina car - the Testarossa), then the bodies were flown back stateside and married to the drive train.
Rather a dumb way to make a car - but the body is all Italian - hand assembled, lots of aluminum (the bumper frames are a work of forged aluminum art) - it is rather nice, plus, I don't have to deal with Italian drive trains or electronics - all of that is made in the USA... But it does mean the body parts (along with things like headlights) are pretty hard to source any more. http://documents.clubexpress.com/clu.../238834273.jpg http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...allante-12.jpg http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...allante-13.jpg |
NICE ride Foxy!
FWIW - I've always longed to own the '87 Olds Trofeo which has a somewhat similar look to your Caddy. It's on my bucket list ;) |

Cool cars, I'm a sucker for the square styling of the '80s and early '90s. My wife had a Cadillac SRX with the 4.0L Northstar, it was a great motor until it started to spring leaks at 60k.
