+...with PDK. . At a traffic light, a white S pulled up next to me...I told the driver that I liked his car - he said, "Me too, it's fun to drive." I followed him for a few miles out of my way just to drink up its beauty. 'Went home & began taking inventory of what I could sell to muster-up the coin. I am besotted! |
It seems clear to me that the Cayman is Porsche's racing platform future. It is Porsche's first-ever mid-engine coupe. Hard top. That means the chassis is stiffer and lighter than, say, a Boxster. My advice? Take one or two minutes to find out what model is the fastest, lightest and has the best suspension goodies, and buy that one. I know they make an S. I wonder if they make a Turbo yet. Then again, the Turbo would be heavier. And it would accelerate like a cat with it's hair on fire.

If you wanted to be talked out of this car, you posed the question to the wrong crowd.

Reading this thread just sort of hit me and made me look back almost 40 years when the 914/6 was compared to the 911. Scott

The only reason not to get one for me would be leg room, but it's probably only an inch difference to the Carrera.

This thread is causing the used Cayman market to appreciate!
Lovely cars, make so much sense. But odd to me that the Boxter preceeded the Cayman, convertibles usually follow the coupes. But they are siblings, not twins. |
So, what do you scallywags know about these gems?
scallywags!!!! haven't heard that one in years. I'm not going to try and talk you out of what sounds like a good idea.SmileWavy |
Gee, where are all the Boxster bashers? You guys are the most fickle bunch of hypocrites I've ever seen.
Oh well, I could give a rat's ass. I've been enjoying the platform since 2002. BUT, the comments about size are valid. It can be tight in there for a big guy. |

I also can't drive an early 911 unless it has an aftermarket steering wheel. You have to try one on for size. |
Just keep your eye on the mirrors, be prepared to let faster cars by. ;)

Hey, whipped...you failed to note the winky smiley? Of course, Porsche is "superior" to Mustang in every way...especially sticker price. How dare I question your wisdom...SmileWavy

notice the improper hand position of that 'stang driver
|
more likely - the car broke down and they snapped a pic of the owners death grip on the wheel

Said the same about 996, but owned a 2003 gt3, and would probably buy a 996 again, possibly a cab for a cruiser..... Also said I'd never buy a boxster..... built a boxster-spec last year...... |
