Very simple DIY project. Once the cover is off, it's just 2 or 3 minutes. Test output voltage 1st.

Power supply. Surprisingly, the puter seems to run quieter as well.

Good for you Hugh. You got luckier then I. When my power supply died, it took out my mobo. :mad:

Possible, could be a better quality power supply with a better fan.

Sometimes the failing power supply can take out the systemboard and you may see leaking capacitators. This just happened to an old PC that I was repairing for a friend.
