Best wishes for your FIL and a full recovery.

We'll be thinking of your family today, Art.

Thanks, Wayne! He's going in for surgery to stop the bleeding today and my MIL is very worried. Since her COPD progressed to where she needs oxygen, she get very upset at the slightest things, so we try to keep her calm.

Sounds like your FIL is in a good place for complete recovery, God bless him.

Keep the Family thinking good thoughts, All is well.

Not sure how old your FIL is, but I had a similar situation happen to me 2 years ago when I was 54. Once they stopped the bleeding and got some blood into me I recovered quite quickly. I bet your FIL will too.

MBAtarga 12-17-2011 11:24 AM

In January my dad was admitted ill and required 2 units of blood immediately. The cause was soon found to be gastric cancer and he passed away in May. I had not been a blood donor previously, but after I found out that those 2 units of blood saved his life (temporarily anyway), I've become a regular Red Cross donor. Just like in Art's dad's case, it's not just accident victims that require it.

Very bad news... My FIL went into surgery today and the Dr can't find the source of the bleeding. The Dr isn't able to stop the bleeding so we don't know what they're going to try next. Very stressful times right now... Beth and I are playing in the band at church tonight and we'll stop by the hospital to see what's new, but this is not good at all...

Art - that's not what we were expecting to hear. Prayers coming your way!

I'll second that! Please Art give your Dad and Mom my best and I hope things change soon.

My thoughts are with your FIL and family Art, I hope they find the source.

Oh Haha 12-17-2011 02:51 PM

Thoughts and prayers sent out.

azasadny 12-17-2011 05:12 PM

Thanks, guys! We just returned from the hospital and my FIL looks great, but he's on his 4th unit of blood. The Dr's will tell him the plan tomorrow, but so far, the bleeding has stopped but they didn't find the source of the bleeding. Maybe the surgeon nicked the bowel when he did the colonoscopy, as several polyps were removed? We are very concerned...

Art,

Or family sends it's prayers!

Take care and best! Sometimes things do get nicked so the Dr.s must be very careful! Keep an eye on your MIL as well! Best,

Just visited this afternoon and my FIL is no longer bleeding, Hemoglobin is almost 10 and they're keeping him for observation. I dropped my MIL at the hospital while I finish fixing 2 computers for friends, then I'll give her a ride home. So far, so good! Thanks for the prayers!!

That's good news Art!

A relative of my wife's had a similar situation and has recovered just fine. Sorry, I don't recall what they found that caused the bleeding, though. It's been a few years now.
