Anybody into vintage pellet guns/pistols?

I ran across an old (40-50 yo I'd guess) pellet pistol I had as a kid. Made by Walthers, target type with adj sights, .177 caliber, single shot. I need to source some front sights...(I recall they were a variety of front sights that screwed into a base. Dad bought it for me in Germany in the 60's.

Not mine lifted off the 'net." Just read where this gun was used in James bond posters. The original Bond gun sold for 14,000 euros recently at auction.

And why would James Bond have a pellet gun?

The story I've read literally tonite is that the propmaster had left the PPK he carries in the movie and the photographer happened to have his pellet pistol in his car...they used it for the pics.

I knew that gun looked familiar. My cousin in Germany has one or at least did. I remember lusting over it as a kid. He's coming out next week. Maybe I should see if he still has it.

What's the purpose of the wooden yo-yo looking thing? In the auction site, it seems to go over the muzzle. Is it a counter weight, or some sort of safety device?

Its a break action and it loads the spring to the diaphram located in the grip that compresses the air. Pretty difficult to cock for a 10 yo kid when I got it. tAFAIK the wooden 'yoyo' slips over the muzzlel to give you additional leverage/prevent you from wearing blueing on barrel when cocking. Mine didn't have one when I got it.

I recall not having that and the foresights would cause the palm of my hand to bleed after an afternoon of shooting/cocking
