Cardholder Services is Really Pi$$ing Me Off Now!
 
The autodial company from hell is really getting out of control. I've been getting almost weekly calls from them -- to my cell phone. Once I tried to key in "1" so that I could vent at a live person, and they dropped me into limbo. This is after they called me!!!

This evening they called my 14 year old daughter's cell phone -- and she doesn't even have any credit cards.

Anyone else having similar experiences???

I posted about this several months ago.

They use IP phone software and spoofing so that the calls can't be traced to the legitimate source. The best you can do at this point is ignore them. I'd think the FBI would take an interest in this kind of scam but the rest of this sentence moved to PARF. You just confirmed that they have a legitimate phone number, so I'd expect it to get worse.

Not on our cell yet...probably because it's off much more than it's on. But our home phone...constantly! A real PITA.

Yes, and it occurs about 2x a week on my cell.

I can't believe the the FCC hasn't tracked them down. Somehow the numbers that appear on caller id are fake, thus they get around blocking. I actually wrote my congressman about this after received 2-4 calls per week for months.

There are so many complaints on various web sites I have to think they'll be shut down eventually.

The calls originate outside the U.S. and they are using IP phone software to make the calls appear local.

The problem is that there are many legitimate uses for this technology. Many companies use it to save on long-distance bills to facilities outside the U.S.. Many U.S. residents use it to keep in contact with family abroad. It would be pretty easy to block the IP address the calls originate from, and it would be just as easy for the scammers to use a different IP address. Oh, and blocking those IP addresses would likely block thousands of legitimate calls too.

I suspect that these guys are even more sophisticated than above. They probably have multiple layers of spoofed/hacked IP addresses between themselves and who they are calling. They are already spoofing the caller ID system.

I suspect that our law enforcement in the U.S. knows exactly who is doing this, but can't do anything about it because the scammers are in another country and blocking them will also block tons of legitimate phone calls and internet traffic.

And if you want to get into another debate, "net neutrality" means that ISPs can't block this traffic either.

I average 3-5 calls per DAY from these people, spread between the house/business and cell phones.
One time, the caller ID actually said "Phone Scam"

A while back, I found out that one of the (probably many) companies who were providing phone services for them was a place in Portland, OR call TM Caller ID

They were uncooperative though.

I get a about two calls a week on the cell and on the landline.
I Googled the number they called from and like Wolf, discovered it was in Oregon. There are many conversations on the net about this outfit. Lots of pissed off people.
"We have an urgent message about your credit card." etc etc. Then "Press one to speak to a representative." It's very misleading.
This isn't my only complaint with Cardholder Services. They once refused to make a $9000 charge back. They told me it was a legitimate charge and there was nothing they could do about it. The said if I was unhappy with the service I had to take it up with the payee. This after I pointed out to them that the state had revoked the payee's license to do business and two other card services had already issued me a total of $13,500 for the same transaction.

I asked them to put us on the 'do not call' list. They were very rude and we still get calls.

Seems as though we're powerless to do anything about it. Something very wrong with that, IMHO.

Too bad we can't turn "rachel" loose in Sturgis next year...hands tied, a sign saying "This is Rachel from Card Holder Services"...;)

hahaha.

We get them to our home phone a few times a day. We barely use our home phone, but I made the mistake of hitting "1" to stop the calls. That, clearly, did not have the intended effect.

I got two calls on my land line and one on my cell from these people today, all between 3:30 and 4:30 this afternoon. Woke me up from a nap. Twice. Jerks. :mad::mad:
Interestingly, the cell call promised a 6% interest rate and the two land line calls offered 6.9%.

real ass holes. i gotten calls before and finally decided to hit 1 to talk to a real person. as soon as I started to say "please take me off your list" they hung up on me.

The only way to get rid of these idiots is to play their game. When they call either just put the phone down and walk away (it runs their phone time up) till it disconnects or press 1 (if you have the time to screw with them) and keep them on the line as long as you can without giving out any new information than they already have. They have to buy their phone time...no cash, no phone time, no phone calls.
