The cop was a tool. You should have said you don't have your wallet - no id. Since you're not operating a motor vehicle there is no reason to have ID.

No reason to have ID. I've been reading on this state by state. It can be vague. For instance, if the cop in any state has reason to arrest or cite, he has the right to obtain ID or proceed to the jail or court.

One valid reason in many states is simply "delaying" or "obstructing" the officer. I'm sure the thought that goes through a cop's mind as he intends to cite is do I have grounds to take this person in if this doesn't go smoothly.

Seldom is a cop made a fool by a citizen. They do alright on their own.

Jeff, you might want to show up in court to ask for leniency. I think I'd volunteer to be a crosswalk guard before shelling out $191 plus probably an administration fee.

You are right about all that. I think he was waiting for a speeder because that's a 30mph zone, instead he wrote himself a jaywalking one. He saw me over a block away and refuse to listen to what I have to say about legally crossing at an intersection. I parked on the street that runs perpendicular into the street in front of the hospital two blocks away. the bottom line is am I wrong here or did he mike a mistake because he's an idiot? According to the driver's handbook, I have not done anything wrong, if I remember correctly. You bet I am fighting this one. One dumbass makes a mistake, I have to pay with my time and loose a day of work just to proof I have done no wrong. Just from searching for a few minutes, I can't seem to find any info on this very subject. You are right, even if I got off, I still have to pay the administration fee like my last ticket. I was cited for not having a ticket on the blue line. I was watching the trains at our local station with my two little kids. We weren't on that damn thing. the judge let me off but I still have to pay a 27 or was It 29 dollars BS fee.

If you win, post the court docs in the local newspaper, send it to his boss and keep as a keep sake.

You know what the main difference is between CA. and the other states? No one in CA. thinks much about the other states.

Me neither. I hope you're having a great day. I've messed with the wrong person in you because you're actually a nice guy.

I've gotten so used to the CA. haters on this board that I'm a little spring-loaded on the subject. In reality, who cares...darn Internet. Some days I wish Al Gore hadn't invented it. ;)

The judge found you not guilty but you still had to pay a administration fee?
