Bowl games on regular TV?
Did I miss this last year? The major bowl games are on ESPN, even the National Championship game.

ESPN has invested big in NCAA football. They're realigning the conferences for ESPN. I guess college football isn't a real enough reality show for the legacy networks.

I think I read that there won't be any bowl games on regular TV this year, almost like last year. Not one.

Once the BCS changed the Rose Bowl I stopped caring. The oldest bowl game, always on the 1st, after the Rose Parade, until the BCS *******s decided it got too much press and changed it.

Kinda like when they took MNF and put it on cable.
Really? Your bread and butter fan base is lower middle class, so lets take the game they love most each week and put it on cable. Good freaking idea.

Big $ has simply ruined it imo. A quick glance shows 11 teams that don't even have winning records playing in bowl games...gimme a break
. I doubt I watch any of them except the championship game (that should be a great rematch), and sure wish they'd implement some type of playoff instead of this crap that's evolved. Maybe the top 8...would make for a month of great football imo...never gonna happen though...too many $ involved going to the individual schools that do play...sad.

One thing I've never noticed before is that there are no more New Year's bowl games on New Year's day. Not just the 4 majors. None. Maybe this has been going on for a while and I missed it. January 1st without bowl games doesn't feel like a new year.

I think the NFL has something to do with that. New Years is Sunday and there are 11 NFL games, I think.

for a hundred years the Rose Bowl was on New Years day and it seemed to work until the BCS got involved.

they likely don't want to compete with the NFL. Same reason why the Winter Classic is Monday night instead of New Years day like it has been in years past.
