think back. did you seriously believe in santa clause?

my co-workers are sad for me. i told them i have never believed in santa clause. i knew it was my parents. i never posed for pictures with some clause-a-like. my co-worker has a 9 year old that thinks santa got him the Xbox bundle..come on!

tooth fairy?..hoax!! i got great gifts..i think i remember them all. i was happy and well adjusted. just not a believer.

Yep; drank the whole pitcher of fairy-tale Kool-aid, Santy, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny. Can't remember exactly when I stopped believing, probably around 5 or 6, for sure before first grade.

obviously you were too brilliant to fall for such make-believe non-sense....or your heritage/parents didn't place an emphasis on it. Why not let little ones believe in that stuff? ...and yes, until I was about 5 or so, i believed in it, too. i had clever parents.

Sure, I believed. At some point I knew that not all of the Santas were the REAL Santa. I think I was told that they were his "helpers".

Yeah!! all in until @8 years old. I'm 52 now. My Parents went waay beyond to keep the secret and play the game and even as we all grew older they still 'did Santa' until each of us moved out. I'm the youngest of 4. Nothing but the best of memories that time of year.

Best memory was in Christmas of '66.....we actually had a fair amount of snowfall on the Eve. I remember @midnight I woke up and heard..... SANTA!! ....like for real getting ready to land on our roof!! (I heard Santa's "bells") The sound was coming nearer/closer and for sure it had to be Santa. The 'bells' kept getting louder - then stopped - started again - then faded.

Next AM the first thing I did was to go out and see where Santa had landed, wanted to see if there were hoof and sled tracks in the snow on top of the roof. My much older sister keyed in right away and played along. She told me she could see the hoof and sled tracks but I couldn't. Being 6 years old and knee high to a grasshopper my viewing angle was somewhat 'skewed'

Much later I found out it was a car driving up to the intersection in front of our house with ....snow chains on!!

No but I made sure that my kids knew about the tooth fairy including foot prints from the window to the pillow with fairy dust. Barbie foot prints were the best.

Same here...and I loved the game.
Tooth fairy left me a dime, I was thrilled. Next tooth - nothing. I took off the pillow case looking for coin. Not a major trauma as I recall.
I finally grew up.

I know I believed it. I also remember several years of suspicion. I laid a mat in front of the fireplace to check to see if Santa left footprints. My older brother provided those and I guess I believed a little longer. I can't remember ages, I just know it went older than 5.

as a child we were taught that a Santa-like figure rode in a nice bateau that was pulled along by a team of friendly alligators

I believe that is Gaston in the lead, followed by Pierre, Marcel and Tiboy.

I believed until about 5 or 6 and then an older kid told me the truth. I remember it like it was yesterday.

What I also remember is my parents preparing for Christmas and always making a big effort to make sure it was a good one. They were so young then. I have fantastic memories and I have tried to do the same for mine.

I still think of my departed father every Christmas.
My mother makes an extraordinary effort every year and still does all of the cooking. She's fantastic.

I guess thats why we do it. We want our children to have a great time and feel special.

I believed until 5 or 6, then thought about the Easter Bunny, and said "No way", then I thought if the Easter Bunny doesn't exist, then what about Santa?

No, I was questioning what I believed in. I just couldn't remember.

Anyway, I think we all missed the point here. I just reread the title.

We are looking for a "clause" with regard to Santa.

"So be good for goodness sake!"

I still didn't buy it.
