Have you used Lendingtree.com? Good...bad?

I'm looking to refinance my house and am currently working through a streamlined refi program with my current lender- and I have little confidence 2 weeks into it that they will be able to close it based on the incompetence of the person assigned to process it.

Doing a streamlined refi is attractive to me because we may move in 1-2 years and the closing costs roll into a slightly higher interest rate, so no money out of pocket. Yet my current rate is high enough that it may make sense to pay the closing costs if I can get a low enough rate somewhere else.

Have you used Lendingtree or similar? I don't like the thought of getting totally barraged with phone calls or letters, but would like to hear your thoughts.

Used LT about 8 years ago for a HELOC. It was a very easy and painless transaction. They presented four offers from different lenders. I took the lowest rate from a well known bank. Would I do it again? Maybe not since you could gather the info yourself.......but they did not charge anything.

I used them for a line of credit about 5 years ago, got the best offer from a local bank, all worked out just fine, no extra phone calls other than just a few follow ups to make sure I was happy.
