What is the best kitchen can opener?
Seems like the Krups has died over the two big dinners at T-day and Christmas.
A new one is like 80 bucks. Before I do that, maybe there's something else? I did like the Krups because you brought to the can, not the other way around. So, it stored out of sight. |

Cutco manual opener. No sharp edges on can after opening.

'OPENER, CAN, HAND, FOLDING, TYPE I'
"P-38" ![]() I have a few of these strewn through different draws in my kitchen, along with I think an Oxo opener, and a cheapy bought from the supermarket. And a few church keys if I need to just puncture the can to open... like stock or juice. ![]()

Perfect timing. Great question, and can't wait to hear the answers. I almost threw both of mine out the back door as I struggled opining multiple cans for a pot of chili I was making.

You want one that removes the lid without cutting it. I have a simple hand one that works unbelievably well. No sharp edges, nothing gets caught in the can when you pour it out, less effort that cutting the metal. I'll search for a pic.

Man does that bring back memories. I just looked and found one in my desk drawer! I remember the first time trying to use one. Just could not figure it out.
